"The beginnings of all things are small." - Cicero

I always hate starting a new social media account entry. I was never one of those who had something good to say during those god awful ice breakers where they ask you to say something interesting about yourself. I guess the best way to start is to just jump in. For the longest, I had been contemplating what to blog about. Travel? Food? It was a serious dilemma that haunted me at night.*

Then it hit me! Why not both?!

*This is sarcasm. I have much more important things haunting me at night, such as the meaning of life or how much money I’ve spent on Starbucks in a particular week.

I love to do both, even though time/work/general adulthood doesn’t allow me to do either much anymore. In fact, this year, I’ll be traveling more than I have in a long time. In about one week (!!), I will be going to Hilton Head Island, SC.  I’ve been there before – several times, actually – but it’s one of my favorite places ever. I’ll be there for a week so there will be tons of things we’ll be doing and, additionally, tons of food we’ll be eating and drinks we’ll be drinking. But more about the food later. Once I get back, I’ll spend a couple of weeks working (or trying to) before I leave on my big trip of the summer: Paris! I’ve been to Mexico and Canada but this will be my first trip away from the continent and to Europe. I can’t wait and neither can my poor, dusty passport.

As I said before, in addition to travels, I will also talk about food: food I make, food I eat, or food that someone else makes/eats and I just want to talk about it. I suppose I could be classified as a baker. I love making cupcakes, cakes, desserts, and this past Día de los Muertos, I tackled bread for the first time with some pan de muerto. I’ve tried my hand at cooking legitimate meals but, for some reason, the smoke detector seems to not be a fan.  Anyways, now that summer is here and I won’t be working quite as much, I’m sure I will be able to try new recipes that I will be posting here. Plus, there will tons of opportunities on my upcoming trips to write about foods we will be making and local foods that we will be trying. I can’t wait!!

So that’s the gist of what will coming up here: travels, food, and a lot of fun. Hopefully, I can update this regularly and there will be at least one new post weekly. That will be the goal.

So, yeah. That’s all I got. Should these entries have some kind of clever ending?

No?

Oh, well then...
